ABSTRACT

Just as there has been an explosion of hospitality programs in the United States over the last twenty years, so too has there has been an international revolution in the provision of hospitality-level education over the same period. Although the hospitality program at Cornell University in the United States can trace its roots back to 1922, the reality is that most of the growth in the numbers of programs and students has occurred globally in the 1980s and 1990s. However, it is difficult, if not impossible, to get an accurate number of students or institutions worldwide offering hospitality and tourism education.
