ABSTRACT

Vitis vinifera is native to Asia Minor, south of the Black and Caspian Seas. However, with cultivation, V. vinifera has spread eastward through Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, India, and China, and westward into the Americas. Vitis vinifera can also be found in the moderate regions of South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand (Cormier and Do, 1993; Bombardelli and Morazzoni, 1995).
