ABSTRACT

However, M. recutita has shown no inhibitory activity against local edema induced by bradykinin, serotonin, or histamine injections (Breinlich and Scharnagel, 1968). The essential oil of M. recutita (p.o.) showed equipotent activity to bisabolol in the cotton pellet granuloma test in rats, but no activ ity in the carrageenan edema test in rat paws. In the same study, azulene showed a lower oral ED50 (850 mg/kg) in the carrageenan edema test than either guaiazulene (1,100 mg/kg) or bisabolol (2,200 /mg/kg); however, all were close to equipotent in the cotton pellet granuloma test (Mann and Staba, 1986).
