ABSTRACT

A new library in San José opened on August 1, 2003, the result of a merger between San José State University Library (SJSU) and the San José Public Library (SJPL). Before this merger took place, SJSU Library had completed a major reorganization. The SJSU Library accomplished several mergers of service points, including merging government publications into the reference department. This experience helped to prepare the university librarians and staff for the merger of the two very distinct library organizations.
