ABSTRACT
In this chapter, some findings from a study of young children’s competence in solving novel combinatorial problems are discussed. More specifically, the following questions are examined:
What procedures do young children display in solving novel combinatorial tasks?
What is the nature of children’s conceptual competence in the combinatorial domain, as inferred from their performance?
