ABSTRACT
The purpose of this chapter is to discuss teacher training for elementary school mathematics. Special emphasis is placed on the ways in which this training takes into account the ways in which children construct mathematics through their own activities. It focuses on the methods of teaching elementary school mathematics to children ages 6 to 8 (grades 1 to 3).
