ABSTRACT
Knowing how nature works and how humans should relate themselves to it has always been central for our ability to live successfully on planet earth. Primitive people, even when they did not have formal schools, took great pains to instill awareness and knowledge of nature into all of their young people. Only during the last two centuries, with the pursuit of science, technology, and industrialization, has environmental education (EE) slipped from the educational agenda.
