ABSTRACT

This chapter describes some of the work of the Tools for Exploratory Learning Program, which was part of the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) National Initiative on Information Technology in Education (Bliss & Ogborn, 1989, 1992a, 1992b), and is an outcome of the work of the London Mental Models Group (see appendix a). The program looks at pupils’ reasoning when they are modeling with computer tools.
