ABSTRACT
We have a vision for our nation’s schools. We see schools that enable all of America’s young people to develop the skills they need for productive lives as citizens and workers. We see schools that challenge all students, recognize and build their strengths, help them realize their goals, and reward their efforts. We see schools that value and respect all individuals. We see schools that command the respect of their communities and involve parents, business people, social service providers, and policymakers in education. In short, we see New American Schools, schools that provide today’s children with the academic and social skills they need for tomorrow’s world.
