ABSTRACT

In Korea, a recent educational restructuring movement, called open education, emphasizes learner-centered instruction, interdisciplinary curriculum, and rich, authentic learning opportunities. As a direct result of this initiative, the Korean government as well as the corporate sector are beginning to support new opportunities for educational technology innovation and hands-on learning. Factors pushing Korea in this direction include rapid changes in information and knowledge, an educational restructuring movement, job-related reeducation and retraining, and the development of advanced information and communication technologies. In response to these trends, this study in a higher education environment attempted to marry innovative technologies with contemporary ideas about teaching and learning.
