ABSTRACT

At the present time the reform bill known as the LOGSE (General Organic Law for the Educational System) is under discussion in Parliament, having already won the assent of the Congress of Deputies though not as yet of the Senate. It is anticipated that its initial implementation will begin in the academic year 1991-1992. This bill is the product of a protracted process beginning in 1983 which, when completed, will put an end to a twenty-year period during which the Law of 1970, which reformed the educational system at the time, was in force.
