ABSTRACT
My contribution to this book relates not so much to the measurement of traits in terms of test theory, which has been so elegantly developed by Fred Lord, as to the psychological interpretation of trait constructs. In particular, it concerns the meaning of traits as related to—and enriched by—research on the behavioral diversities associated with temporary states and with situational specificity.
