ABSTRACT

Conceptions of moral education are guided by psychological theories of moral development and behavior. Two principal approaches can be distinguished in these theories, those of structuralization and those of internalization. The approaches differ on a number of dimensions (Nisan, 1983), with important educational implications. One realm of major educational importance that has not been explored sufficiently by either approach is that of the violation of moral norms, or immoral behavior. This realm is the focus of this chapter.
