ABSTRACT

Two programs were subsequently initiated by IBM in the area of computer education. The first program began in the fall of 1983 when representatives of the Americas/Far East division of the IBM World Trade Corporation expressed interest in conducting similar programs in foreign countries. ETS staff were consulted and site visits to U.S. TTIs and secondary schools were made. Based on what had already been learned about the U.S. secondary school program, ETS staff made specific recommendations concerning the design of programs abroad.
