ABSTRACT
One important aim of intervention research is to create means for improving community life, health, and well-being. A form of applied research, it examines relationships between conditions identified by clients as important-such as drug abuse or discrimination–and personal or environmental factors that contribute to such conditions. Intervention researchers attempt as much as possible to fuse the dual purposes of applied science in the same endeavor: promoting understanding of individual and community conditions and contributing to their improvement.
