ABSTRACT
Taking the literal definition, differentiation is the process by which we recognise and respond to differences. In the context of the classroom this means: (a) Getting to know and understand our pupils as learners; (b) Identifying their individual needs; and then, (c) Reviewing our teaching styles and materials; (d) Designing a programme of learning to match those needs. Successful
differentiation is about achieving the closest match.
