ABSTRACT

Learning contracts have been used on BA (Hons) Business Studies at Newcastle Business School since October 1990. They are the central feature of a two and a half year management competence development programme, which includes two separate six-month industrial placements and two blocks of college-based work. There are 60 students in each year group. This chapter looks at our experience so far and identifies the benefits gained by students. It also looks at practical difficulties which are yet to be overcome.
