ABSTRACT

How can we make assessment a positive experience for students? The purpose of this chapter is to investigate ways in which the principles of good assessment identified by Phil Race in Chapter 4 have been applied in practice. Most of the applications are based on suggestions from participants at the final session of the Assessment for Learning in Higher Education Conference. Participants were asked to identify those ideas and strategies for positive assessment which they had come across at the conference and would want to take back to their own institutions to share with their students and colleagues.
