ABSTRACT

Short stories are written in a wide range of genres from 'My brother Adam never liked me . . .' to 'Every full moon the Loup Garou hunted for a fresh victim'. They include mystery narratives, multicultural tales, traditional tales, myths and legends, science fiction, humorous tales and contemporary school and football stories, to mention but a few. They also exist in a variety of formats such as picture-books, novel-sized short story collections and illustrated anthologies, some of which are single-author, some translated and others retold by significant children's writers in edited collections.
