ABSTRACT

A great deal of effort has been dedicated by management scholars to the description and codification of nationally determined business systems, cultures and management styles. The classical approach to culture in the fields of management and strategy could be defined as cartographic and is based on the measurement of so-called ‘cultural dimensions’. The project is to draw a map of cultures – along a set of measurable variables – and try to place every national business system and management style on a graph that could describe and codify this culture, preferably on a two by two grid.
