ABSTRACT

An observation of human nature reveals the extent of our complexity, and that to understand a person's motives, attitudes, aspirations, and behaviors, we need to consider the multiple aspects of the person. These aspects include, as far as we know, the person's physical, emotional, and cognitive abilities as well as cultural traditions and life experience. However, one of the important aspects of human nature that we often overlook is spirituality as reflected in the belief system. The subject of social work in the Middle East cannot be clearly examined without understanding religion as a common denominator in the social lives of people in the world, the Middle East in particular.
