ABSTRACT
Education is political because it is concerned with values and beliefs. This chapter explains the party politics of education. Much of the story is similar across the United Kingdom (UK), but there are complex differences between England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland so, for brevity and accuracy, reference is restricted to England. You might want to compare policies in the Pacific Rim countries, the United States of America (USA) and Europe in Chapters 1 and 3.
