ABSTRACT
In early 1997 I was invited to my daughter’s house to see a demonstration of the internet. It was not the first time that I had encountered this new technological development. The previous year my brother-in-law had attempted to show me the web. However, after a couple of hours searching all we were able to find was a series of university home pages with very little content. It was very much like that in 1996.
