ABSTRACT
Recently, Japanese people have begun to display an increasing interest in the natural environment and ecosystem services related to the multifunctionality of agriculture and forestry. This growing interest is directed toward issues such as biological diversity preservation, the nurturing of water resources, landscape formation, and recreational experiences. As a result, in Japan, tourism demand for agricultural and rural regions with abundant natural resources and rural landscapes has increased among people inhabiting urban areas.
