ABSTRACT

The competitive strategies of multinational enterprises (MNEs) need to be explored against the background of the degree of economic integration already in effect among the ‘triad’ economies of Japan, the United States, and the European Community (EC). This integration itself has been fostered by the activities of large MNEs, especially those in the triad powers, which account for the great majority of world trade and investment. The very high degree of economic integration between Canada and the US is an aspect of this interdependence in the triad nations.
