ABSTRACT
The Rome Treaty lays down the principles of the freedom of capital movements in its articles 67 to 72. In 1962 two directives were accepted that gave practical substance to this principle. Direct investment (DI) between firms in the member states of the EC came under the heading ‘fully free’.
