ABSTRACT

Education 3–13 was first published in 1973 and so, at the time of writing, is in its fortieth year of production. It is now the major publication of the Association for the Study of Primary Education (ASPE) and is read not only in England and the wider UK but is also distributed to academic institutions in many countries around the world. This text is a celebration of that 40 years of the publication of research on primary, elementary and early years education and this introduction sets out something of the history of the development of the journal, its links with the Association for the Study of Primary Education (ASPE), and the future prospects and challenges that the journal may face.
