ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a case study of an approach to adult technician retraining through modular, individualized, courses which utilize information maps as a format for the organization and presentation of content and a microcomputer-based management system as a means of evaluation, diagnosis and advice to learners, as well as rapid and flexible access to appropriate training materials.

Although developed for electronics technicians and implemented in Brazil, the system may be a model for upgrading/recycling courses in many other subject areas and most other countries, both developing and developed.
