ABSTRACT

The essays in this volume focus on the flow of technical knowledge from the United States and Taiwan and from Taiwan and the US to Mainland China over the last six and a half decades. 1 This technical knowledge encompasses the invention and production of industrial goods as well as knowledge of the patterns of corporate organization and management that allows for the efficient production of such goods and knowledge of the ways to integrate such production to the world market and to the demands for such products. Most of this volume will focus on the IT industry, but this book also addresses scientific and technical transfer outside of the IT industry.
