ABSTRACT
A network is essentially a way of seeing relationships in a system. In the social sciences, the network approach is undertaken to explain how the social structure shapes individual behaviors and performance. The rise of the network approach can be linked to an increasing interest in open systems in many fields of science during the last half century. Open systems emphasize interrelations between parts of a system (Scott and Davis, 2007).
