ABSTRACT
The environmental assessment of building projects has seen considerable growth over the past decade. There are both generic assessment methods such as life-cycle assessment (LCA) and building specific ones such as BREEAM and LEED. Such is the impact of building environmental assessment that there are now accredited assessors and global accreditation, and certification schemes such as BREEAM and LEED have a big impact on how buildings are designed, how they are constructed and how they are valued on completion.
