ABSTRACT

I confess: I have a crush on Ted Aoki. There's something intoxicating about the act or experience of “crushing. ” It's all-consuming. The “crusher” is transported into fantasy. It seems a little naughty to be crushing on a male academic when one is a grown and married lesbian woman, but it is exhilarating having one's thoughts taken up and read back to them by another human being. Ted's words have begun to echo through my own thoughts and quite profoundly through the works of other theorists I am reading as a graduate student. The intertextual and conversational nature of curriculum studies is seducing me.
