ABSTRACT

In Italy day spas represent a relevant part of the wellness sector and are expected to grow in the next decades. Day spas, as many other industries in the service sector, are characterised by operational and management difficulties, linked to the features of demand and supply. These can compromise long-term economic results. The study considers revenue management as a method that can contribute to maintain and improve the day-spa economic performance and analyses the existence of the conditions for its use in the Italian day-spa segment. The investigation was conducted in summer 2012, through questionnaires and interviews directed to owners and managers of a selected sample of Italian day spas.
