ABSTRACT

Hamat Gader is Israel’s largest and oldest spa complex. It is one of the most popular tourism and recreation sites in Israel that combines recreational experiences, attractions and activities for families, groups and couples. The site is considered to be the fifth largest tourism site in Israel with annual visitor numbers of 450,000 (Dun and Bradstreet, 2012). Hamat Gader is located at the Yarmuk River gorge (flowing to the Jordan River), some 7 km east of the Sea of Galilee, one of the leading tourism regions in Israel, and near the triangle border of Israel, Jordan and Syria. The site is 160 metres above sea level, so the average daytime temperatures in winter are 15 centigrade and in summer 38 centigrade (while quite often it exceeds 40 degrees) (CBS, 2011).
