ABSTRACT

Labour is generally paid in the form of wages, salaries, commissions and bonuses, or a combination thereof. In addition, workers may receive any variety of benefits — ranging from health/dental insurance and pension plans to employee and dependent life insurance to long and/or short term disability — and perquisites, which are particularly prevalent in the different branches of the tourism industry. Some employees are actually independent contractors, paid a fee for services, even though they may only work for one company. In the spa sector, we can actually find all of these work arrangements, sometimes even in the same business!
