ABSTRACT

This case study concerns activities at various organic farms and New Age centres in Costa Rica. Destinations like these have not traditionally been considered a kind of tourism and voluntary work opportunities at these centres have not been typical tourism fare. This study embarks on an exploration of postmodern tourism and its new associated tendencies, especially the New Age movement and its incursion into the world of experiencing as an activity in Costa Rica. Four farms were visited for this study and a link is being made with existing practices on the level of wellness tourism in general.
