ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we consider the definition of bullying and the corresponding definition of cyberbullying. We start by examining the term bullying and the defining criteria normally associated with it, namely intent (to harm), repetition, and imbalance of power. We also consider the related term of harassment. We then move on to the term cyberbullying and a similar term cyberaggression. This involves a discussion of how useful the traditional bullying criteria are in the cyber domain. We conclude with some recommendations concerning the understanding and use of the term cyberbullying.
