ABSTRACT
In this chapter, I would like to address some of the aspects that we, at Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates (KPF), consider to be of critical importance in the design of tall buildings; that is, the way that form, function and aesthetics can be combined to create bold yet elegant architectural statements that proudly take their place on a city’s skyline. Before I go any further, I would like to stress that great buildings can only be realized through committed teamwork. It is evident at KPF that throughout our practice, from the partners to the technicians, we engage a very talented group of individuals who work extremely well together. We operate from two major offices in New York and London and a smaller office in Shanghai. We appreciate the cultural diversity that these offices bring to our practice.
