ABSTRACT

Over the past ten years, major changes in office work, technology and environmental design have generated a growing number of questions about links with worker productivity. What have we learned about the ways in which workers in offices are affected by features of the building in which they work? A number of recent studies of environmental conditions in office buildings suggest that features of the office environment have effects not only on how people feel – their level of satisfaction – but also on their perception of their jobs, their levels of stress, and, ultimately, their physical and mental health.
