ABSTRACT
The Northern Ireland conflict has both internal and inter-state dimensions. On the one hand, Northern Ireland is divided between Irish nationalists and British unionists. On the other, its conflict spills over state frontiers, encompassing not just the United Kingdom (UK), but also the Republic of Ireland.
