ABSTRACT

Cirque Du Soleil (CDS) started in 1984 with 20 young circus-artists who shared a common passion for this art form. Today, CDS is one of the most significant entertainment companies, with over 1,500 artists in 21 different shows. The company’s international headquarters is based in Montreal, Canada. Artists come to Montreal from around the world to take part in specialized training programs to prepare for the existing shows. During these programs, artists partake in daily acrobatic trainings, but also experience dancing courses, makeup workshops, theater lessons, and rhythm classes to nurture artistic development. World-class acrobats and artists also come to Montreal to participate in a several-month creation process for the upcoming new shows. This experience is quite unique, as artists get to live the birth of a new production and get to create their own characters (https://www.cirquedusoleil.com" xmlns:xlink="https://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">www.cirquedusoleil.com).
