ABSTRACT

North America is a hotbed for sport and exercise psychology research and practice. The Association of Applied Sport Psychology and the North American Society for the Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity are among the internationally acclaimed organizations in the profession today. Canada has a strong presence in both of these associations, and it also has several active national sport and exercise psychology associations, including its two most prominent: the Canadian Sport Psychology Association, and the Canadian Society for Psychomotor Learning and Sport Psychology. The involvement of Canadians within these two national-level organizations, beyond the aforementioned international societies, and also the International Society of Sport Psychology, suggests a highly active critical mass of professionals, and a bright future for Canadian applied sport psychology.
