ABSTRACT
During the last decade, increased attention has been paid in Europe to the professional development of sport psychology practitioners and the advancement of applied sport psychology (ASP) education (e.g., Wylleman, Harwood, Elbe, Reints, & de Caluwé, 2009). In Sweden, a pioneer ASP course was started in 2002 at Halmstad University, and in 2009, a second applied course was initiated at the Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences in Stockholm. The Halmstad University course (in its current form) consists of two years (half time, 60 European Credit and Transfer System—ECTS) of education and supervised practice working with individual athlete-clients and team clients (Stambulova & Johnson, 2010, 2011). In 2011, the joint efforts of several Swedish universities and the Swedish Sport Confederation established a certification system to create a national network of sport psychology consultants that meets a set of criteria relevant to their education, supervised practice, and independent consulting.
