ABSTRACT
The previous chapters highlight the fact that the physical environments of Asian cities, especially at the high end, may not be as Western as they are portrayed in mainstream and popular discourses, and they are not well understood within simple oppositions such as global–local, Western–Asian, and traditional–modern. This chapter ventures into the very building blocks of the high-end environment: architect-designed buildings.
