Introduction

This second section of the book provides four country case studies examining the way governments are responding to the challenge to supply teachers for large and growing school systems. Each of the countries (China, India, Nigeria, Brazil) has, in recent decades, developed explicit strategies to recruit and educate large numbers of teachers.
