ABSTRACT

This chapter explores my interest in integrating spirituality with critical reflection, in two ways. I begin by identifying how spirituality and critical reflection are currently perceived and how each can contribute to the other in what I have called ‘critical spirituality’. Secondly, I use a particular example typical of my experience in running workshops focusing on spirituality that is underpinned by critical reflection theory. This example explores the reactions of a small training group to an exercise in a workshop, and illustrates the potential value of a critically spiritual approach to training and practice.
