ABSTRACT

This concluding chapter is a reflection on the future of public health; it pulls together some key themes and points of learning raised in the previous chapters. This is achieved, first, in relation to two landmark reports, The Black Report, entitled Inequalities in Health (DHSS 1980), and Fair Society, Healthy Lives (Marmot Review 2010). Second, the chapter considers some of the challenges, priorities and opportunities for public health in forthcoming years. The chapter will include reference to implications for research for public health.
