ABSTRACT
This chapter provides an overview of police training in the United States. It examines the historical development of police training and discusses changes in training associated with the political, reform and community policing eras. It examines current trends and issues in law-enforcement education and training and considers the role of police training in advancing both traditional and contemporary policing strategies.
