ABSTRACT
Indonesia is the largest archipelago nation in the world, comprising 19,000 islands, over 200 major cultural groups and more than 400 languages and dialects. The population is unevenly distributed with the greatest concentrations being on the islands of Java and Sumatra. Within Java the major population centre is metropolitan Jakarta.
