ABSTRACT
In 2006, the UK committed itself to a course of action in southern Afghanistan that was soon to prove unsustainable. A rapid deterioration of security conditions on the ground forced the military to take the fight to the enemy and to extend the scale of its kinetic operations. Tactical and operational decisions took on strategic significance and ultimately upset UK efforts in Helmand Province.
